Organize
a Read-a-thon
for Literacy with your local school,
youth group, or Sunday school class. Participants
raise support for literacy training and
basic education in Haiti by collecting
sponsors who pledge support for each page
or book a participant reads. Young participants
learn about Haiti and the importance of
education. In some cases participating
classes can be matched with school children
in Haiti for correspondence. To learn
more about the Read-a-thon for Literacy,
contact David Diggs by
e-mail or by phone at (202) 686-2088.
Support
Beyond Borders Financially
Beyond
Borders provides literacy training, basic
education, leadership development, and
teacher training to some of the most marginalized
people and communities on the globe. We
depend almost completely on private donations
from individuals, families, and churches
to carry out this work.
With
a contribution of $300 to the Literacy
Scholarship Fund (or a monthly pledge
of $25), Beyond Borders can provide an
illiterate Haitian adult the chance to
learn to read and write.
You
can support an entire community literacy
center through the Partnership
of Hope. With monthly pledge of $200
you will be matched with a literacy center
either for children and youth or for adults.
As a partner you will receive photos of
the center you are partnered with and
periodic progress reports.
A
contribution of any size will be greatly
appreciated. You can donate to Beyond
Borders, using any of the three options
on the left.
