Child Protection
Developed in response to the January earthquake, the Child Protection program initially worked to register orphaned or displaced children and reunite them with their families, if possible. Many of these children were living in servitude apart from their families at the time of the quake. The initial Beyond Borders team trained 113 caseworkers, case coordinators, and master trainers who have:
-
registered and started the family tracing process for more than 3,700 children, and
-
reunited more than 940 children with their families.

While continuing to support the tracing and reunification process, the Child Protection team has now undertaken a new initiative that will train 270 child advocate trainers who will then train more than 16,000 child advocates working all over Port-au-Prince and in many rural communities.
