iving Well is the theme of our Spring newsletter, and the implication is that not all giving is done well. Kent Annan writes about a charitable woman visiting Haiti who causes a small riot in her attempt to give. David Diggs writes about a dictator who gives with one hand what he has stolen with another. And Kris Stoesz argues that beggars should be choosers. In these and other articles we explore how giving can do more (or less) good depending on how well it is done.

eyond Borders is thankful for the chance to facilitate good giving and receiving between the U.S. and Haiti, between neighbors who have much to receive from each other. Life is full of generous exchanges, and in both the giving and receiving we can experience God’s grace.

Giver of Life: A Prayer
Lord, you gave your Son to be born amoung us.
You gave your Son to live with us.
You gave your Son to die for us.
You gave the Earth and all that is in it into our safekeeping.
You give the Spirit of life each day.
Lord, you give all.

We praise you and we ask you to show us how to give.
Show us how to give wisely and with abandon.
Show us how to give freely and with discipline.
Show us how to give.
God, you who give all. Amen.

"Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom promised to those who love him?" James 2:5
