1. Adult Literacy Center Partners: The Beyond Borders is in great need of partners for several adult literacy centers. Through the Partnership of Hope individuals, families, churches, classes, or community organizations can be partnered with a particular literacy center in Haiti. Partners receive a Partnership Portfolio, which provides photos of the center and community members who join the center to learn to read and write and get a basic education. Partners are also invited to visit the center they are partnered with.

The average cost per center is $200 per month or $2,400 per year. This provides training for instructors, a monthly stipend for instructors, books and materials for students, oversight and logistical support for the center, and an external evaluation of the progress of each student twice yearly.

If a commitment of $200 is beyond your reach, please consider giving regularly to the Literacy Scholarship Fund. A contribution of $25 per month for twelve months ($300) will cover the entire program (at least two years) for an adult Haitian who successfully completes the full program.

2. Reprinting of REFLECTION CIRCLE GUIDE II  

We are seeking $3,750 for reprinting the teacher's guide for Reflection Circles Book II (Wonn Refleksyon, Liv II).

Reflection Circles is a pedagogical program used in classrooms, literacy centers, and within organizations that helps participants cultivate the habits and skills needed for participatory leadership and self-guided learning. Through reading, reflecting on, and openly discussing selected texts together, students come to more rigorously question their assumptions and the views others present to them. They learn to take ever greater responsibility for their thoughts, their words, their education, and their lives.
